Description

The Versailles was designed for a developer who successfully built and sold many Speight architects designs. Like so many of my quality builders, he grew up in an extended family of qualified, successful builders and business people. He learned by example from childhood. He said that he wanted to make a statement. Everyone has a two story Foyer and Family Room, but he also wanted a two story Living and Dining Room. The design proceeded from there. The first purchaser bought this home and immediately asked for the Sun Room addition. He said there is no place to watch TV in a wet swimsuit. The Versailles may be built with or without the Sun Room.

The first home owner was nice enough to loan me his Bentley and chauffeur for a friend's wedding.

Many embassy personnel are royalty in their own country. Two royal families have lived in the Versailles. If you would like to live like royalty, this could be the home for you. It is an honor when homes designed by Speight Architects are chosen to be embassy residences.

The total house floor area of 10, 623 square feet both finished (living) and unfinished (non-living) does not include the 1,037 square feet of volume space above the two story Foyer, Family, Living and Dining Rooms, but for pricing this square footage must be considered. Although there is no floor, volume space could cost as much as or more than regular floor area because two or more story spaces often have spectacular glass, Stone or brick fireplaces that go up two or more stories and the electrical, drywall, trim, painting, etc. must be done on scaffolding which means more equipment and labor.
